Please reach me at hello@yogainbloom.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.
If you are longing for a yoga practice that is stress-free, accommodates your needs, leads you to deeper understanding of yourself and leaves you feeling nourished, cared for and calmer, here it is. If you've tried everything else but now you're looking for a practice that specifically supports women in peri/menopause, you're here now.
There's some delicious stretches and strengthening as well as wonderful rest and rejuvenation in every class. It's recommended you try 3 classes to see if it's for you or not. Because classes are kept small, we can adapt to your needs.
Classes are based in principles of restorative yoga, menopause yoga and somatic yoga. Your teacher is trained and practiced in these styles as well as yogic and buddhist philosophy.
I don't love the word "symptom" because menopause isn't a disease! But, yes, there are plenty of scientific studies confirming that yoga assists women at every stage of menopause, such as the following here: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/nhs.12931 and here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1550830720303098. See also the resources page for books and other media supporting this.
Hello, neither am I and I've been practicing yoga for over 20 years! It's had some wonderful physical benefits but I've discovered I have a "strong" body rather than a "flexible" one. At this stage of life, yoga is amazing for maintaining our flexibility, balance and strength into our sage years. Ability to touch our toes is a bonus, not a requirement!
Before your first session you'll complete a registration form. Personal information is treated with the utmost discretion (see the privacy policy) and is not shared with other participants.
The session may include personalised hands-on guidance. You'll always be consulted before hands-on guidance. Even if you consent to hands-on guidance at an earlier stage of the session, at any stage you can revoke this with no reason necessary.
Guidance will always be gentle, invitational and instructional. It may include the adjustment of props, a light touch to increase sensation or perception, or gently assisting movement into a position. Never forceful, sudden, or weird!
In workshops I provide you with high quality, gorgeous yoga props like oversized European pure wool blankets for winter, beautiful Calm Buddhi bolsters, soft minky blankets for support, lovely lavender-scented eye pillows and handprinted silk wraps for the warmer months. If you have a favourite yoga mat, blanket or other prop please bring it if you prefer.
In my classes at Southern Yoga everything is provided for you - mats, blankets etc, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
Let's discuss your needs and together we'll come up with a way to support you. This might be an initial private class to work together before you join a group class, or specific practices to do outside of class, specialised adaptations and goals within group classes, or a referral to someone else who can assist you more specifically with your needs.
